We started our journey in 2018 developing LucentBid, mobile advertising platform designed for media buyers to access the vast inventory of ad space within apps, games and the mobile web. In the online auction system known as Real-Time Bidding, platforms must be capable of evaluating millions of requests per second, optimizing a bid most likely to win the auction while maintaining positive ROI, and, if successful, delivering ad creative to be served on the client page. Naturally, server costs can become restrictively high and many advertisers opt for 3rd party tools with a high overhead that covers this cost. LucentBid provided a highly efficient, resource-light infrastructure that allowed advertisers to host their own bidder and put the highest portion of their ad budget toward ad inventory, not server costs. With changes in privacy practices across mobile platforms and regulations in many regions, self hosting became a liability and we made the decision to sunset LucentBid.
